Journal of Geology has been published annually since 1961, including 2-6 Vietnamese editions and 2 English editions. For many years, the Journal of Geology has been ranked by the State Council of Professors as one of the leading journals in the field of earth sciences with high scores (1961-2014: 0-1 point; 2015-2018: 0-0.75 points; 2019-2020: 0-1 point; 2021-2024: 0-0.75 points. In which, the English version is widely used not only in Vietnam but also cited and used by many scientists around the world. The publication of research results in the Journal of Geology has been a source of pride for many generations of scientists, lecturers, researchers, graduate students and students at home and abroad.
In more than 60 years of development, the Journal of Geology has had many changes in organizational structure, governing bodies such as the Vietnam Geological Survey, the General Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam, the Center for Information, Archives and Geological Museum, etc. and recently, the Geology Journal was transferred by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to the Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources and was granted a license to operate a printed and electronic magazine No. 243/GP-BTTTT dated September 5, 2024 by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Along with the development of the Geology industry, the Geology Journal has the task of publishing quality scientific works in the fields of the industry. Disseminate, guide professional activities, exchange scientific knowledge in the fields of geology and minerals. Timely inform and introduce achievements, results of scientific research, basic investigations, and application of scientific and technological advances in the fields of geology and minerals.
The editorial board of the Geology Journal includes prestigious scientists at home and abroad, with in-depth expertise in geology, minerals, and earth sciences. Each published article undergoes a closed, independent peer review process conducted by at least two scientists with the same expertise as the article's content. The editing and publishing process gradually approaches regional and international standards.
Despite the ups and downs over time, to date, the Journal of Geology has always been considered and scored for scientific works in many Industry/Interdisciplinary Professor Councils.
