Abstract
The main objective of this paper is aimed to introduce the results of applying statistical analysis methods in landslide hazard zone of the Mường Lay Town. There are different kinds of statistical method but those of statistical index and multivariate model are the most common and well-known ones used in earth sciences. The results from these methods have been showing the areas of high landslide potential located in the study areas as follows: Lê Lợi, La Nay, Mường Tùng, Tin Tốc, Cổng Trời, Nam Anh, Huổi Cha stream, Huổi Ló stream and Huổi Lèng stream. These areas occur only with a range of values in a factor map, for example: the slope with the value greater than 150 and 15-350, the land cover including grass areas, bare hills and young forests; high average rainfall areas, especially the areas where the average rainfall per year greater than 2300 mm, the areas with complicated geological formations of the Điện Biên Zone such as: gdP3-T1 db, S2-D1 nc, T2-3 lc, and NP nc2, the kind of the weathering such as FSA1 and HH (weathered from kaolinite-gibbsite-hydromica), the types of geomorphological such as: FS4, SD1, SD2, SD3, the areas with lineament density greater than 1 km/km2, and the areas having the river density greater than 2 km/km2.
