Abstract

Carbonate resources play an important role in the evolutional history of the Earth’s crust on the Vietnamese territory; they play a great contribution in the socio-economic development of the country. The sustainable utilization of these valuable resources based on a scientific and integrated plan, on one hand, preserves non-renewable original values for future, and on other hand, fulfills the demands of related economic sectors and protects ecological environment. This will partly help to upgrade the quality of living standard of the community. The establishment of geoparks in karstic areas of potentiality is one of the most effective ways for the sustainable development of the carbonate resources in Việt Nam.
