Abstract

During the 2010-2011 years the Institute of Geology and Environment have carried out the Hà Nội City level Project “Study on some types of geohazards in the Hà Nội City for planning of City development”. Based on results of field trips, remote sensing interpretation and reference of other data the author discovered and determined the current status of 5 geohazard types occurring on the territory of old Hà Tây Province, such as: landslide (7 sites), land subsidence caused by karst (2 sites), river band erosion (36 sites), surface erosion (5 sites) and ditch cutting erosion (4 sites). Through analyzing several concerned elements the authors evaluate the danger of  5 geohazard types on the territory of old Hà Tây Province and set forth some preliminary measures of avoiding geohazards, reducing the damages caused by them.
