Abstract

Phú Khánh basin, located in the continental shelf of Việt Nam, was originally a sub-symmetric basin. But due to a process of deformation and subsidence, asymmetric block structures have been formed here, with secondary sedimentary basins deformed by the process of faulting , compression and volcanic activities .

Based on the in-phase seismic wave fields and the results of   sedimentary facies analysis, in space and time, sequence and systems tract boundaries can be differentiated.

From Oligocene to Quaternary the sedimentary section consists of 6 depositional cycles corresponding to 6 sequences: Early Eocene (E2-E31), Late Oligocene (E32), Early Miocene (N11), Middle Miocene (N12), Late Miocene (N13), Pliocene - Quaternary (N2-Q).

Each sequence corresponds to a secondary sedimentary basin formed by a tectonic phase or by a sea level change cycle, which includes three systems tracts: the low stand systems tract (LST), transgressive systems tract (TST) and high stand systems tract (HST). Each systems tract is determined by analyzing lithofacies and sedimentary environment.
