Abstract

This paperpresents briefly a system of collecting, storing, analyzinganddisplaying geological information from digital maps. Firstly, the system establishes adatabase forstoring the geological, topographic, geomorphologic maps inUTE coordinate system. Then, the field survey data and the analysis results at each outcrop will be recorded and referenced to thematic maps throughtheircoordinate locations. In the case survey locations are determined by global positioning system (GPS)accordingtothegeographiccoordinate system, thissystem willallowto convert tothecoordinatesystem of each thematic map. Finally, the search and display  of the geological information will be conducted by some functions in AutoCad. The utility of this digital system is easy to update, analyze, reference and display. The system is designed for using tablet computer, so the analyses can be conducted in the field. In order to present the content of this paper, the system was applied for a slope at the western tunnel entrance of Kangnam - Sunhwan high way, Seoul, South Korea.
