Abstract

This paper presents anoverviewofthemethods of enviromental investigation and assessmentrelatedtotoxicminerals based on their geochemical, physical characteristics andtoxicity, with the aim to work out the basis for selecting the investigation and assessment methodology suitable with the existing equipment systems in Việt Nam. As a result of the research, some main problems have been solved as follows:

- Onthebasisofthe toxicity of toxic minerals, they have been divided into twogroups (the group of radioactive toxic mineralsand that of othertoxicminerals).

- The methodologies for environmental investigation and assessmentrelatedtotoxic mineralsof eachgroup have been developed in accordance with the existing equipment systems  in Vietnam.
