Abstract
The seismic reflection method has long been used for exploration of petroleum and other minerals such as coal, potasium rock salt, etc.
In Việt Nam, seismic reflection survey for sedimentary mineral prospecting and exploration has been applied since 1970s of the last Century but the obtained results were very limited due to the application of incompleted equipments and data processing technology. At present, the Union of Geophysicsis equipped with modern instruments, equipment and data processing technologies.
The 2D reflection seismic survey in geological investigation as well as in assessment of coal potential in the Sông Hồng (Red River) Delta Plain requires the effective depth of investigation at least of 2,500 m. With the existing equipment (Sercel XL428, 210 channels) the authors have studied and selected parameters for the 2D reflection seismic acquisition, which are properly in the assessment of coal potential in the Sông Hồng Delta Plain.
