Abstract
This paper presents the structural plan-view of the Kainozoic Nghĩa Lộ Sedimentary Basin, Yên Bái Province, which has been studied during the geological mapping and mineral investigation of the Văn Chấn Region at scale of 1:50 000. Based on the results of geological mapping, the authors have studied and analyzed the stratigraphy and geological structures of the Nghĩa Lộ Basin and suggested that the general structure consists of two parts: PreKainozoic basement and Kainozoic structure.
The preKainozoic basement in the Nghĩa Lộ Trough consists of the preKainozoic rocks, which are exposed along the basin margin.
The Kainozoic formation mainly compose weakly consolidated terrigenous sedimentary rocks of the fluvial facies, which were observed in the boreholes. This formation demonstrates variable thickness (76-238 m thick) and comprises of two sections: The Neogene lower section and the Quaternary upper section.
