Abstract
According to the available literatures, the striped marble in the Thạnh Mỹ Area, Quảng Nam Province was defined as different names of the preCambrian Formations. The authors have investigated the Thạnh Mỹ Area and carried out exploration drilling for cenment production. Based on the metamorphism, location, and genesis of marble in the Thạnh Mỹ and adjacent areas, the Thạnh Mỹ metacarbonate has been metamorphosed from dolomite-containing calcareous sedimentary rocks, corresponding to the Permo-Carboniferous marble in Ngũ Hành Sơn. This rock has experienced the regional metamorphism at the green schist facies, which is characterized by mineral assemblage: Ca + Qu + Phl ± Tr. The strong Mesozoic tectonism and dynamic metamorphism were linked to the formation of the Nông Sơn Basin. These events were attributed to destroy the Paleozoic Thạnh Mỹ metacarbonate, which are widely distributed in Northern Quảng Nam, from Ngũ Hành Sơn to Thạnh Mỹ.
