Abstract

This paper introduces the distribution pattern, potential and utility values of gemstone in the Văn Chấn Region for making masterplan of socio - economic development of Yên Bái Provine.

The results of detail investigation on gemstone resources of the Văn Chấn Area showed that gemstone in here can be subdivided into two typical groups: sedimentary gemstones of the Bản Páp, Bản Cải Formations and metamophic gemstones of the Sin Quyền thermo-dynamic metamorphic Complex.

Presently, gemstones exposed in some areas such as in Suối Giàng, Suối Bù, Suối Lốp, Khe Thắm, Sùng Đô are now exploited for cultural life of the people. Not only for gemstone production, some types of sedimentary gemstones are also used as the core for industrial pearl grow, which is very marketable.
