Abstract
Recently, with the experiences obtained through many years of study, DSc. Obzhirov A.I. and his colleagues from the Far East Filiations of the Institute of Pacific, Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation has established a “System of methods applied in the investigation, exploration and assessment on the reserves of gas hydrate distributed on global oceanic shelf zones”, among which, a system of geological structure, sedimentology, gas geochemistry (surface sediments on the sea floor, water on sea floor horizon) and measurement of echo. The effectiveness of combination between gaz geochemical method and echometry has been proved by the discovery of series of gas hydrate occurrences in the Okhot Sea. This paper presents some geological methods which have been effectively applied in the investigation of gas hydrate.
